Somali Government Rejects Offshore mediation From The African Union

Mogadishu(SD)-The Somali government has rejected an African Union committee request to hear on a maritime dispute over Kenya.

The Somali Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement that the case is before the ICJ, and there is no reason to join the mediation offer from the African Union Commission.

The court is scheduled to adjourn the trial to Somalia and Kenya on September 9-13.

The ministry said the final solution would be provided by the ICJ court, and would not negotiate else where.

Kenya appears to be putting pressure on Somalia to withdraw from the maritime dispute court, but instead, Somalia has been insisting to see it through the courts.
