Somali special forces arrest a female Al Shabab leader

Mogadishu (SD) – In an operation last week in Mogadishu, a senior al-Shabaab female official was arrested in the capital, according to local sources.

Somali Special Forces two days ago raided a home in Hamar Jadid neighborhood and arrested Al Shabab’s head of taxation for Banadir region.

The raided house was equipped with a hidden CCTV cameras, and police used a hand grenade to get into the house, the raid also netted other individuals who were detained in the house.

The woman is said to have replaced the former al-Shabaab’s tax chief, who was arrested several months ago in Mogadishu and still in government custody.

The arrested female Al Shabab leader uses several SIM CARDs as well as many names including Lady Sahro, Tabliqah and other aliases.

The Somali government and al-Shabab have not yet commented on the matter, the government is said to be investigating the other men arrested with the woman.
