Mogadishu (SD) – Somali security forces have completed the operation of the SYL Hotel in a deadly attack by al-Shabaab militants.

The forces shot all five of the attackers who aimed to kill officials and civilians who were inside the hotel at the time of the attack.

During the operation the troops managed to rescue nearly a hundred people, including government officials and members of the civilian population, 8 civilians were wounded.

“The 60th Guard of Villa Somalia and the police force took part in the operation, the Government and the people of Somalia commend them for their swift and courageous response to the Somali citizens who they have vowed to defend”. Said a government statement.

Finally, the Federal Government of Somalia shares its deepest condolences with the family and friends of the martyrs who have perished in the terrorist attacks against the Somali people.
