Mogadishu(SD)-Somali police have launched an investigation into the shooting that took place yesterday in the Halane headquarters of Almaas Elman, a former peace and diplomat.

Somali Police Commissioner Hassan Mohamed Hijaar said the Criminal Investigation Agency (CID) has launched an investigation into the matter and to determine the cause of the murder and who committed it.

The site of the killing Halane, is a high security location and is where foreign embassies and agencies are operating in the country, the killing of the Somali diplomat can put a question mark the safety of the location.

Almaz was the daughter of Elman Ali Ahmed, the activist and founder of the famous Elman organization, he was killed in 1996, and since then his family has continued to operate the organization. In addition to his daughters, Almaas is the sister of Ilwad Elman who is currently nominated for the Nobel Prize.
