Somalia: we don’t recognise Somaliland’s Covid-19

Mogadishu (SD) – The Somali federal government has addressed the two cases of Coronavirus diagnosed in Somaliland, particularly in Berbera and Burao.

The government says it does not recognize the two cases, as it questioned Somaliland’s ability to administer the Coronavirus, the government of Muse Bihi said it had sent the test to Kenya for confirmation.

The Somali Deputy Minister of Health, speaking to the media today made it clear that the cases would not be referred to WHO, as they did not trust Coronavirus verifiability in Somaliland.

The World Health Organization has added the two Somaliland cases in its daily list of Coronavirus numbers, as a part of the Somalia’s confirmed cases.

Somaliland confirmed two people in Berbera and Burao were diagnosed with the virus, noting that one is a Chinese citizen and the other is a dual citizen from Britain.
