Somalia’s former Presidents criticize the federal government on regional issues

Mogadishu(SD)-In a joint press conference held today in Mogadishu, former Somali presidents Sharif Sheikh Ahmed and Hassan Sheikh Mohamud have strongly criticized the Somali government’s policies.

The press conference, which appeared to shadow the conclusion of the International Co-operation Conference in Mogadishu, Sheikh Sharif  Sh. Ahmed said that it was not a good idea to hold a conference in the absence of some regional governments of the country such as Puntland and Jubaland.

Former President Shariif Sh. Ahmed said young people who post insults on social media will not deter us in addressing the Federal Governments bad policies. 

On the other hand, the president Sharif pointed out that  the country has two enemies, whom he identified as Al Shabaab and the federal government, he criticized the fact that the ministers in the Government could never speak about the rights and the real situation in the country.

Former Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud said at the press conference that government officials have political monopoly these days.

“If there is no trust, Puntland and Jubaland will not be there, others will leave too and nothing good will come out of the Galmudug process” the former president added.

The conflict between the opposition politicians and the Somali government has intensified in recent days,  it was yesterday when most opposition political parties have formed an alliance.

Federal Government of Somalia have not responded to the series of allegations coming from opposition parties and politicians.
