Hargeisa (SD) -Members of the Somaliland Electoral Commission have today elected a new chairman and vice-president, with Abdirashid Riya Rafah and Mustafe Dhawal.

The election commissioner Abdirashid Riyo Rac was the controversial member of the committee, and the opposition parties demanded that the member be reinstated.

Wadani electoral committee party member was absent in the election of the new Chairman, the UCID member said it he was out numbered in the elect Abdirashid Riya Rac and described the election as “unprecedented”.

“This election was unprecedented, because on Thursday the mediation committee told us that there was no election during the mediation process. It was a simple and unprecedented election, and I was there, and I did not participate, but we were out voted. ”said the UCID party member.

The new chairman Abdirashid Riyo Rac was the controversial member of the new committee, and the opposition parties has already opposed to his inclusion to the committee.
