Hargeisa(SD)-The Somaliland House of Elders has extended the mandate of the Somaliland House of Representatives by a period of 24 months (2 years).

The speaker of the Elders Suleiman Mohamud Adan subsequently put the motion to a vote, It was approved by 70 and the chairman did not vote.

In the Senate, there were 71 senators were present for the approval of the House of Representatives term extention.

This extension will be for the sixth term of the House of Representatives, which has been sitting for 15 years, since its election on 2010.

Also, the Somaliland House of Elders during their meeting this morning, decided to extend their term of office by a three-year extension, which they passed with a full vote.
