Hargeisa (SD) – The leadership of Somaliland’s two opposition parties, Wadani and UCID met with Denmark’s Ambassador to Somalia Amb Mette Knudsen and her deputy Ambina Nina Berg.
The two parties and the Danish diplomats discussed ways to facilitate the holding of the joint elections of the House of Representatives and the local councils.
The leadership of both Opposition parties and ambassadors has been meeting for several hours, stressing the need for long-term councils.
Finally, the leadership of the Opposition parties and ambassadors similarly discussed the growing arrests of politicians and journalists which is a serious threat to freedom of expression and democracy in Somaliland.
Somaliland is at cross roads at both Politically and socially, as democratic and tribal equilibrium norms are challenged by President Bihi’s lack of leadership abilities.
