Hargeisa (SD) – The Somaliland Ministry of Health has announced the formation of a national commission chaired by the president that will deal with the Coronavirus crises.

The Director General of the Ministry of Health Dr Mohamed Abdi Hiregeye said all of Somaliland’s borders have health care workers screening people who are coming into the country.

Dr Hiregeye told local media that the ministry has set up a quarantine site in located east of the capital for people suspected to be infected with the virus.

There have been multiple cases of the Coronavirus reported in the region for the past few days.

Its bit late for Somaliland to have set up this task force, there are already concerns with the way the country has dealt with screening of travellers.

It will be devastating for the unrecognized country to deal with this virus, as it has limited resources and infostructure.
