Hargeisa (SD) – Somaliland’s recent budget revealed the extra ordinary cost of Somaliland government officials travels aboard.

The reveal showed that a million dollars have been spent by the Somaliland authorities on foreign trips over the past year, 2019.

The explanations of the expense were even more outrageous, the were logged as Work related trips, while the rest are spent on personal travels and tourism in Europe.

All of this money was paid by the Somaliland Treasury, with approvals from the top.

The current Kulmiye government is already facing a large public backlash for nepotism for family patronage positions.

It seems the corruption has spread to technocrats as well.

The Somaliland government nor the parliamentarians who approved the budget had yet explained the corruption to the taxpayers.
