Somaliland to participate in Somalia’s regional debt consolidation conference

Mogadishu (SD) – According to sources, Somaliland is to attend the Somali government’s regional dept consolidation consultation conference in Baidoa on July 7, 2014.

The Somali federal government’s debt consultation conference’s purpose is to find ways to get the international community to consolidate Somalia’s international loans.

The news comes as Col Bihi met with Somalia president in Addis Ababa recently, reportedly, the two discussed debt relief and how it could benefit both parties.

Col Bihi’s government is to receive 30% of the Somalia funds once Somalia starts getting loans again, as per UCID Chairman Faisal Ali.

The Somaliland Government’s secret representative in Mogadishu, was tasked with working with Somalia in these and other tasks.

The Previous Kulmiye government utilised private individuals as liaisons between Mogadishu and Hargeisa, but as of Col Bihi’s presidency, there seems to be a full-fledged Somaliland office in Mogadishu.

Ever since Kulmiye came to power in Hargeisa, they have been back peddling from Somaliland’s quest for independence for a short term personal and tribal gains.

Somaliland attendance of the upcoming Somalia’s regional debt consultative conference will finally cement Col. Bihi’s withdrawal of Somaliland bit for independence.
