Nairobi(SD)-A US embassy in Kenya clerified that Ambassador Kyle McCarter arrived in Mogadishu earlier this year, but did not meet with President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo.
The embassy said Ambassador Kyle McCarter met only with his Somali counterpart Donald Yamamoto as well as the president’s advisers, but the embassy ruled out that McCarter met with the president of Somalia.
The ambassador also stated that the issue raised by Ambassador McCarter was only to strengthen relations between the two governments of Kenya and Somalia and to resolve any differences, to jointly address the threat posed by al-Shabaab as the enemy of both Somalia and Kenya.
Somali ambassador to Kenya Mohamud Ahmed Nur Tarsan said there has been no dialogue between the US ambassador to Kenya and President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo, calling on the newspaper to check the facts before publishing the news.
The Daily Nation quoting an interview by ambassador Kyle in an article published on October 22, reported that the ambassador and the President Farmajo have discussed the issue of the Maritimes case, and the Ambassador has instructed President Farmajo to withdraw from the court proceedings and proceed negotiations through negotiations.
