30 children die of malnutrition in Kismayo Hospital

KISMAYO (SD) – More than 30 children have died of malnutrition in the past 48 hours at Kismayo Hospital in the Lower Juba region.

According to the administration of the children’s hospital, they were brought from the drought-stricken areas districts of Lower Juba region.

Feisal Adan Ibrahim, head of the malnutrition ward at Kismayo Hospital, told local media that 30 children had died as a result of malnutrition in the country.

“Most of the families whose children died of malnutrition and those in treatment have been displaced from Middle Juba region. Nearly 30 children have died of malnutrition as a result of the drought, especially in the areas where food and water are scarce. were alive, ”said Feisal Adan Ibrahim, Head of Malnutrition at Kismayo Hospital.

Adding “Nearly 400 families affected by the drought are being treated at Kismayo City Hospital after suffering from malnutrition and water shortages,”

The United Nations says 2.5 million Somali children are at risk of starvation as a result of the drought, and UNICEF has called for funding to address the threat.
