Kismayo (SD) – Jubaland military court has sentenced 19-year-old Deqow Aliyow Kusow to death for his role in the Al-Shabaab attack on the Cas-Casey Hotel in Kismayo on July 12 last year.
After a lengthy hearings, the military court hearing the case against Deqow Aliyow Kusow also known Mujahir sentenced him to death.
The assailant was part of a militia that attacked the Cas-Casey Hotel in Kismayo in 2019, he was captured with injuries.
Hodan Nalayeh a Somali-Canadian journalist who once resided in Vaughan, Ont. was killed when militants stormed the hotel she was staying at in the port city of Kismayo in Somalia last year. The 43-year-old, was pregnant at the time of the attack, and her husband Farid Jama Suleiman was among the 20 others who died.
Al-Shabaab at the time claimed responsibility for the attack, saying it killed at least 20 people.
