A Somali gets 60 days in jail for stalking Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez

New York-A Queens man who stalked Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has been sentenced to two months of jail time, officials said Sunday.

Douala Hashi, 31, pleaded guilty to criminal contempt and was sentenced Friday to 60 days in jail by Judge Scott Dunn, who also issued a new full order of protection against the man, said a spokeswoman for the Queens District Attorney’s office.

He was arrested in June for showing up at the congresswoman’s district office in Jackson Heights after a judge had already ordered him to stay away.

Somalia-born Hashi was initially charged with criminal mischief on June 15 for spraying a fire extinguisher on the same floor as AOC’s office.

Carrying a broken bottle, he ducked into a utility closet before he was handcuffed. Hashi never actually entered her office, police said.

A judge then ordered him to stay away from the outspoken lefty lawmaker, but on June 26 cops arrested Hashi and charged him with stalking for three more visits to AOC’s office. Police said on each occasion, he asked to speak with her and became “violent” when refused access.

Hashi was then ordered held on $2,500 bail and was sent to the Vernon C. Bain Center, the barge jail in the Bronx where he remained Sunday.

“Nah, bro, I don’t want to give my side of the story,” Hashi told the Daily News last month in an exclusive jailhouse interview.

Democratic Socialist Ocasio-Cortez has attracted millions of both fans and detractors. A Louisiana police officer was fired July 22 after posting on Facebook that the former bartender, who represents the Bronx and Queens, “needs a round, and I don’t mean the kind she used to serve.”
