Garowe (SD) – The president of Jubaland state of Somalia Ahmed Madobe has announced that he is ready for elections to be held in the country, as soon as possible.
Ahmed Madobe made the remarks while speaking in Garowe last night on the occasion of the second anniversary of the election of Puntland President Said Abdullahi Deni.
Ahmed Madobe said neither he nor anyone else wants the elections to be delayed.
Speaking on the issue of Gedo region, which is believed to be one of the obstacles to holding elections, Ahmed Madobe said he and President Farmajo could discuss the issue instead of sending representatives, calling for a broad meeting.
Ahmed Madobe also called on Galmudug President Ahmed Abdi Kariye Qoor Qoor to publicly state the issues they discussed.
“I strongly recommend convening a meeting, and for President Ahmed Abdi Kariye Qoor Qoor to publicly state the issues they discussed, the seats are owned by clan-based candidates, they have a committee, a system in which elders are involved,” he said.
