Garbaharey (SD) – The Federal Government of Somalia confirmed a shelling in Gedo region has taken place targeting Al-Shabaab forces.

The Somali National Army (SNA) said in a statement that the bombardment destroyed four Al-Shabaab bases near Garbaharey district.

The military said the bombings had inflicted heavy casualties on al-Shabaab, although no further details were released
Al-Shabaab has not yet commented on the shelling and the resulting casualties.

The U.S. military, which reportedly was behind the shelling has not yet commented on the operation.
