Afgooye December 26, 2022 (SD) – -Residents told reporters that a heavy battle between ATMIS and Al-Shabaab took place last night in some parts of the Afgoye district in the Lower Shabelle region.

The fighting was reportedly a response to an attack by members of Al-Shabaab on a Ugandan military base in the district.

Officials from Somalia’s security agencies and ATMIS did not yet release details of this latest attack.

Al Shabaab who opposes the presence of foreign troops in the country is known to attack African military bases in Somalia.

ATMIS, which is in the country to help government troops in their fight against Al Shabaab, is not directly assisting in the war between the government against the Al Shabaab group.
