Kismayo July 06, 2023 9SD) – Al-Shabaab claimed responsibility for a car bomb attack targeting a convoy of American and Somali soldiers in Jubaland.
The attack occurred in the outskirts of the city of Kismayo early Thursday morning.
Kelly Cahalan, a spokesperson for the US Africa Command (AFRICOM), denied that there were casualties resulting from the attack on the outskirts of Kismayo.
“There are reports of US military casualties. These reports are not true,” the statement read.
Al-Shabaab stated that the attack, which involved a large explosion and gunfire, specifically targeted a convoy of foreign forces, including American troops, in Kismayo.
Al-Shabaab claims that there were significant casualties and damages inflicted on the foreign military forces they targeted, contrary to the US statement denying any casualties.
