Mogadishu July 08, 2023 (SD) – The African Union Mission in Somalia peacekeeping forces (ATMIS) conducted a raid yesterday in the Lower Shabelle region, particularly in the village of Baladul Amin, targeting members of the extremist group Al-Shabaab.
According to an statement from the ATMIS, two militants affiliated with Al-Shabaab were killed during the operation, and several weapons and ammunition were seized.
“The AMISOM forces conducted a raid on a known hideout of Al-Shabaab militants in the Baladul Amin area of Lower Shabelle region, resulting in the elimination of two terrorists, the recovery of six weapons, and 130 rounds of ammunition,” stated a press release from the AMISOM mission.
ATMIS forces have been conducting similar operations in various regions where they have a presence, targeting Al-Shabaab militants and their hideouts in the Lower Shabelle region.
