Al-Shabaab executes two alleged government soldiers in public

MOGADISHU (SD) – Al-Shabaab militants have shot dead in public two alleged members of the Somali Federal Government’s troops in Lower Shabelle region.

The two prosecuted men, Yonis Moalim Hassan and Mohamed Nur Hassan, were identified as members of the Somali Police Force and the National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA), according to an statement from the militants.

The public prosecution took place in Kunya-Barow area of Lower Shabelle region.

The two men shot dead by al-Shabaab were said to be operating in the towns of Marka and Baidoa, in Lower Shabelle and Bay regions respectively.

Al Shabaab has intensified its attacks on troops and government officials in recent weeks.

The government and the Somali army have not yet confirmed or commented on the shooting of the two soldiers.
