MOGADISHU (SD) – Reports from Mogadishu say that Al-Shabaab militants have attacked a police station in Hawa Abdi area, on the outskirts of Mogadishu.
The attack, which lasted for nearly an hour, affected neighborhoods near the scene of the fighting, and residents reported hearing gunshots and hand grenades.
According to reports, the fighting started when Al-Shabaab militants attacked a Haramcad special forces base there.
“The Haramcad Police Force, which is always on high alert for the enemy’s tactics, repelled an attack by Al-Shabaab militants on a checkpoint on the road between Mogadishu and Afgoye. The terrorists suffered heavy casualties and fled.” said a Haramcad statement.
Al Shabaab forces is yet to release any info on the reported attack.
No casualties have been reported so far, but this is the second al-Shabaab attack on the outskirts of Mogadishu in 24 hours.
