MOGADISHU (SD) -Al-Shabaab launched a fierce attack yesterday, targeting a military police base located in the Kahda district of the Banadir region.

The attack was said to have taken place while most of the soldiers were sleeping, leading to the attackers successfully infiltrating the base.

Significant casualties and injuries have been reported on members of the attacking Al-Shabaab-affiliated group and the military soldiers defending the base.

Eyewitnesses from the area have told local media that they saw the bodies of several slain soldiers and their commander. Security forces have initiated joint operations to find the group responsible for the attack.

This incident marks one of the most recent in a series of attacks by Al-Shabaab within the capital, Mogadishu. The Kahda district has experienced previous similar assaults by the extremist group.
