CAIRO (SD) -The President of Somalia, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, arrived in the city of Cairo, the capital of Egypt. The President was welcomed at the airport by officials from the Egyptian government.
Hassan Sheikh Mohamud received an official invitation from his Egyptian counterpart, President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, and the two leaders are expected to hold talks on various bilateral issues.
The two Presidents will discuss the regional situation and the common interests of Somalia and Egypt, emphasizing the strengthening of the historical ties and the significant collaboration between the two nations.
The visit by the Somali President to Egypt comes amid heightened tensions and conflicts between Somalia and Ethiopia, stemming from the recent agreement in Addis Ababa between Somaliland and Ethiopia.
Egypt has been a prominent supporter of Somalia, particularly in light of the controversial MoU signed in Addis Ababa, which impacts the sovereignty of Somalia.
