Egypt Vows to defend Somalia against Ethiopia

CAIRO (SD) -The President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, currently on an official visit to Egypt, today met with the President of Egypt Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi at the Presidential Palace in Cairo.

During their discussions, both Presidents addressed issues related to the security and strategic cooperation in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden, the regional situation, the ongoing fight against terrorism, and the strong ties between the two countries.

Following the meeting, the two leaders held a joint press conference where they shared insights into their discussions. President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud expressed the commitment of the Somali government to collaborate with Egypt on various fronts, including security, regional stability, and counterterrorism efforts. He emphasized the importance of diplomatic cooperation and solidarity between the two nations.

For his part, the President of the Arab Republic of Egypt, Mr. Abdul Fattah Al-Sisi, welcomed president Hassan to Egypt and pointed out the political effects of the violation of the Ethiopian government against the unity and territorial independence of Somalia, adding that their unwavering in their support for Somalia, and if they call upon them, Egypt will not hesitate to act.

After the joint press conference, both Presidents issued a joint statement affirming their commitment to strengthening the ties between Somalia and Egypt, promoting regional stability, and working towards common goals for the prosperity and well-being of their two nations.
