Balad (SD) – Explosion targets AMISOM convoy in Middle Shabelle region reportedly causing death and injuries, according to eyewitnesses.

The blast struck a Burundian military vehicle in the town of Balad.

Witnesses told local media that they saw the bodies of AMISOM soldiers on the ground, and others firing in several directions.

Al-Shabaab militants claimed responsibility for the attack, saying they killed six AMISOM soldiers and wounding three others.

AMISOM Command have not yet commented on the blast, and Al Shabab’s claim of killing several of their soldiers in Balad.
