WASHINGTON (SD) – Somalia’s Minister of Finance of the federal Government, Dr. Abdirahman Duale Beyle is scheduled to meet with the International Monetary Fund IMF and senior members of the US Department of State and Finance, the meeting will take place in Washington D.C.
The main focus of the meeting is to discuss the progress made in Somalia’s economic reform program and the completion of Somalia’s debt relief, which is important for the international financial institutions.
The minister of finance Dr. Abdirahman said, “In Washington, I will be holding essential meetings with officials from international financial institutions such as the World Bank and the IMF to discuss the completion of Somalia’s financial reform process. We are committed to advancing the debt relief process in which we have come a long way”.
The International Monetary Fund (IMF) issued a press release on 7th of March regarding the outcome of the second and third debt relief program (ECF) of Somalia, from the meeting which Somalia had with the IMF in the previous two weeks.
The statement also highlighted the Somali government’s efforts to reform its finances, as the country is experiencing droughts, COVID-19, and climate change.
