WAJIR (SD) -Members of Al-Shabaab attacked the Safaricom Telecommunications Company facility located in the Kenyan town of Caana-dhasheega, near the city of Wajir.

A clash occurred for several hours between Somali forces guarding the facility and Al-Shabaab militants. However, later on, the Somali forces withdrew from the location.

Reports indicate that Al-Shabaab militants have destroyed the Safaricom Telecommunications facility in Caana-dhasheega, but caused no reported casualties.

The Kenyan government has not yet addressed this attack by Al-Shabaab on the Safaricom facility in Wajir, North Eastern Kenya.

Al-Shabaab has previously carried out similar attacks in the North Eastern region, targeting both civilian and infrastructure sites.
