Dhusamareb (SD) – Al-Shabaab militants have reportedly taken control of Elder village near Dhusamareb, the regional capital of Galmudug state last night.

Al-Shabaab said its fighters had claimed taking full control of Elder village near Dhusamareb district on the road between Guriel and Dhusamareb, effectively distrusting travel between the two major cities.

They also pointed out that Galmudug forces had left the area before Al-Shabaab took control of the road linking Guriel and Dhusamareb.

The claim comes at a time when Galmudug has recently announced that its forces are conducting operations against Al Shabab.

Galmudug state officials have not yet commented on al-Shabaab’s claims and no independent source has confirmed the news.
