Balli-dhiig (SD) – Reports from Balli-dhiig district in Togdher region indicate that a landmine explosion took place in the district yesterday afternoon, causing casualties including deaths and injuries.

The blast reportedly hit a bus traveling on the outskirts of Balli-dhiig district, residents told local media.

The blast killed one person and injured two others who are currently being treated at a hospital in Somaliland’s Togdher region.

The bus, which was hit by the landmine, belonged to a high school in Balli-dhiig district, and was transporting students at the time of the blast.

Somaliland president on behalf of the his government sent condolences to the victims families.

“The President of the Republic of Somaliland, Muse Bihi Abdi, on behalf of himself, the Government and the people of Somaliland, sends his condolences to the family, relatives, friends, and the people of the Republic of Somaliland on the passing of Ali Ibrahim Sii-arag who died today 14/11/2020, in Balli-dhiig District of Togdher Region, when a landmine hit a bus carrying him and the students of Ina Sanweyne School.”
