HARGEISA (SD)- Approximately 20 members consisting of ambassadors and diplomats from ally countries with Somaliland, who have high interests for the upcoming Somaliland elections in 2022, have arrived today in Hargeisa. The members are from the UK, Sweden, Norway, Finland, Denmark, and Germany.

Today, the delegation is scheduled to arrange a meeting with the Somaliland President Muse Bihi Abdi, and they have successfully concluded a meeting with the Ministry of Interior Affairs officials in the morning.

The delegation has also met with the Somaliland Electoral Commission to discuss affairs about the forthcoming elections. The National Electoral Commission (NEC) has briefed the delegation on their preparations for the upcoming registration and elections and called on the delegation to support the work of NEC, and the strengthening of the country’s democratic practices.

The members plan to meet with the Somaliland’s political parties, and the Speakers of both Houses of Parliament by tomorrow.

These diplomats and ambassadors represent international countries who work closely with Somaliland on matters relating to elections, development projects and security concerns.
