MOGADISHU (SD) -The commander of the African Union Mission in Somalia (ATMIS), Sam Okiding, provided detailed information on the AMISOM military’s plan for the upcoming year 2024 in Somalia.
He mentioned that a meeting is scheduled soon in the city of Mogadishu, where all ATMIS commanders will discuss strategies to effectively counter al-Shabaab throughout Somalia.
Sam Okiding emphasized that the focus of ATMIS’s military efforts in 2024 is to defeat al-Shabaab and strengthen the capabilities of the Somali National Army.
He stated that the mission’s priority is to counteract al-Shabab’s influence and enhance the overall security situation in Somalia.
