MOGADISHU (SD) – The Office of the Auditor General of Somalia has issued an order banning government agencies from entering into agreements during elections.
A statement from the Office of the Auditor General said the order would remain in force until a new government takes over.
The National Auditor General informed the government agencies that entered into the agreements since and before the election, but did not yet implement the agreements to submit information on those agreements.
The statement added that any government agency head that enters into or implements any agreements will be held accountable and will prosecuted to the full extent of the law.
The AG’s warning comes as the Presidential election date of May 15, 2022 was announced by a joint parliamentary committee.
