Mogadishu (SD) – Governor of Benadir region and Mayor of Mogadishu Omar Mohamud Mohamed (filish), chaired the weekly district meeting at the headquarters of the Benadir regional youth association, this week’s meeting was focused on the issue of violence against Somali women.
The meeting was attended by all the vice chairmen of Benadir regional administration such as finance, social affairs, security and politics and public works and departmental directors of the region.
Also present were regional army officers led by the regional commander and the governors of 17 districts in Benadir region.
Salah Omar Hassan, a spokesman for the Benadir regional administration who briefed the media after the meeting said that they will launch an operation against drugs.
The spokesman noted that drugs play a major role in rape acts in the capital, therefore they will launch anti-drug operations.
Its not clear if drugs were attributed to the latest attacks against women and children in the capital city.
