Washington (SD) – Joe R. Biden has officially become the 46th president of the United States, after being sworn in minutes ago.
In a ceremony attended by few dignitaries at Capitol, Mr. Biden took the reins of a very divided country.
Kamala Harris, the first black woman to ever be sworn in as vice president, was also sworn in an historic ceremony.
Biden is a fierce rival of Donald Trump, a former vice president of the Obama administration, during his eight years in office, defeated his predecessor in a divisive campaign.
In a speech after his swearing-in, Joe Biden said: “Democracy has won, a day of history and hope, once again learned that democracy is precious, the dream of justice will not be delayed now or in the future, ”.
President Biden called on the American people to overcome their divisions, declaring “without unity, there is no peace.”
Biden thanked from both parties who attended the inauguration. including former U.S. Vice President Mike Pence, while former President Donald Trump did not attend the event.
The 46th president of the US Joseph R. Biden will take over the presidency of a country divided by politics and his election.
