HARGEISA (SD) – Wadani Opposition Party Candidate Abdirahman Mohamed Abdillahi (Irro) Responding to President Muse Bihi’s recent anti election speech, accusing him of handing the election administration to the National Army.
The president of Somaliland yesterday said in a speech to the national army that he has handed over the administration of the election to the national army.
Candidate Irro’s remarks underscored that President Bihi had effectively overthrown the country’s celebrated electoral system.
“Surprisingly, the president yesterday handed over power and administration of the election to the national army, as he said before a graduating army officer.” Wadani Opposition Party Candidate Abdirahman Mohamed Abdillahi (Irro).
Irro added “He stated that the army is managing the campaigns of the parties, elections, ballot boxes and post-election justice.”
President Bihi also announced yesterday that the presidential election has been postponed, instead announced registering new political assosiations
“This seems to be the first step in Muse’s government moving away from democracy and free and fair elections.” Irro said.
The allegations against President Bihi come on the heels of a reported trip to the United States, which is said to be impressed with Somaliland’s democratic progress.
