Mogadishu (SD) – Somali presidential candidates Forum, meeting on the 4th day in Mogadishu, have elected former Somali president and national party forum leader Sheikh Sharif Sheikh Ahmed as their chairman.
Hussein Abdi Halane, a former finance minister, was elected to be a secretary and Ridwan Hirsi Mohamed, a former deputy prime minister, was also named spokesperson.
The conference was attended by Sufi clerics and would later today be joined by members of the business community in Mogadishu, the capital of Somalia.
The conference is scheduled to conclude on today but there are reports that it could be postponed until noon on November 25, 2020.
During the three-day conference, Presidential Candidates held private meetings with various segments of society, including religious leaders, traditional elders and civil society organizations.
