Hargeisa (SD) – Somaliland’s Information Minister Saleban Yusuf Ali Koore has reportedly ordered the arrested Ahmed Ugas, the head of state-run satellite television.

The reason for the minister’s order for the arrest Mr. Ugas was said to be a delay of only 10 minutes of the broadcast news on the national TV.

Minister Koore has not yet commented on Mr. Ugas’s arrest, and it’s not clear what the reason was for the news broadcast.

Ahmed Ugas is said to be one of the key figures in the long-running National Television broadcast.

He was also instrumental in the coverage of the recent Somaliland Regional Games and in general all live broadcasts by the Somaliland National TV.

This is the first time a Somaliland Minister of Information ordered the arrest of one of its staff reporters.
