Hargeisa (SD) – The Chairman of the Wadani Opposition Party, Mr. Abdirahman Mohamed Abdullahi (Cirro), pledged his support for the Somaliland media and journalists.

The pledge came after a meeting between the Chairman, officials of the Somaliland Journalists Association SOLJA and some journalists working in Hargeisa.

Journalists shared with the Wadani Chairman their concerns with recent decrees issued by the Minister of Information Saleban Koore, that could impede freedom of expression and media independence in Somaliland.

Chairman Irro, at meeting pointed out that the media plays an important role in democracy and development in the country.

He said they were sorry for any unlawful violations against the media.

The country’s media activists were expecting that the chairman of the main opposition party Wadani Abdirahman Irro in taking actions that would pressure on the government to address media complaints.
