Hargeisa (SD) – An additional delegation from the People’s Republic of China arrived in the Somaliland capital of Hargeisa yesterday afternoon.

The three-member delegation from the Chinese Foreign Ministry’s Africa Department was welcomed at Egal Airport in Hargeisa by officials from the Somaliland Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The newly arrived delegation from China will bolster the previous 4 members who have been in Hargeisa for days now, among them is the Chinese Ambassador to Mogadishu Qin Jian.

The Chinese Ambassador to Somalia Qin Jian and the senior officials from the Chinese Foreign Ministry who flew in directly from Beijing, are said to be there to persuade Somaliland to withdraw from their diplomatic partnership with Taiwan.

The Geeska Afrika newspaper reported that it has been told that the reason the additional diplomats came to Hargeisa is that the Chinese Ambassador to Somalia who was in the Somaliland for four days, was unable to meet with the President.

The delegation from the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs is the highest Chinese delegation to visit Somaliland.
