Civilians killed in Mogadishu suicide bombing

Mogadishu (SD) – Details are emerging from an explosion this afternoon that targeted Somali military officers not far from Gen. Kahiye police training headquarters in Mogadishu.

The blast, was reportedly carried out by a man wearing an explosives vest, at a tea shop near the General Kahiye Police Training School in Hamar Jajab district.

The Blast is confirmed to have caused damages including Fatalities and injuries, Somali Police force were seen cordoning off the scene of the crime.

So far, the explosion is confirmed to have killed at least five civilians and a Somali government soldier, it is also reported that the bomber died at the scene and injured at least eight civilians and number of soldiers.

Colonel Sadiq Aden Ali, a spokesman for the Somali Police Force, told the media that the attack at the restaurant was carried out by a suicide bomber.

“The suicide bomber killed five civilians and himself. Eight other people were injured and the police provided medical assistance to the victims,” he said.

The blast comes at a time when Somali troops and their allies have increased their attacks on Al Shabab Strong holds.

No group has yet claimed responsibility for the blast and Somali authorities did not accuse no group on the blast.
