Nairobi (SD) – Concerns are growing over the plight of Somali girls abducted in recent days in Nairobi’s Eastleigh neighborhood.
Garissa MP Aden Barre Duale, one of the politicians who began meeting with security officials, said they were aware of the disappearance of three girls, two from Eastleigh and a resident of Kayole.
“As a Somali community, this is something new for us. It has caused us a lot of anxiety in the last two days, ”said Aden Duale.
In a alarming video posted on social media featuring one of the girls, she said the hostage-takers wanted up to $ 50,000 in ransom.
The girl who appeared in the video has serious bruises on her face. She is 23 years old, according to Kenya’s Standard newspaper.
“The kidnappers wrote us a message on Wednesday saying they wanted a ransom.” The newspaper quoted her brother-in-law, Omar Ibrahim.
“We are worried that she will be harmed,” he said, adding that they could not get the large sums of money demanded by the kidnappers.
