Garoowe June 19, 2023 (SD) – The news coming from the city of Garowe, the capital of Puntland, indicates that tensions have arisen following political disagreements on a proposed constitutional amendment in the regional state.

Yesterday, the Presidential Guards initiated operations to secure important areas of the city, including government buildings, ministries, the central bank, and the Puntland Parliament headquarters in Garowe.

Subsequently, Puntland Security Forces entered the city of Garowe, where they took control of various strategic locations.

The current tension in Garowe is related to the 52nd session of the Puntland Parliament, which is expected to witness changes in the composition of the Parliament and amendments to the Puntland Constitution, ahead of any political agreement on the matter.
