Mogadishu June 19, 2023 (SD) – President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, has today appointed the new Commander of the National Army, General Guled Ibrahim Sheikh Muxiyadiin, and the Commander of the Land Forces, General Ahmed Aadan Ali, in accordance with Articles 87 and 90 of the Federal Constitution of Somalia and the Law No. 15 enacted in 1960 regarding the establishment of the National Army.

The President emphasized that every Somali citizen, the public, and the military have a crucial responsibility in ensuring the stability of the country. He expressed his determination to eradicate the threat of Al-Shabaab through joint efforts between the Somali National Army and the Somali people.

President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud officially inaugurated the new Commander, General Guled Ibrahim Sheikh Muxiyadiin, and urged him to take immediate action in the ongoing fight against Al-Shabaab and the restoration of national security.

The appointment was made today, Monday, June 19, 2023, by the President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud.
