WASHINGTON (SD) -A meeting focused on the security situation in Somalia, attended by five countries that assist Somalia in security matters, was held in Washington, D.C. The participating countries included Qatar, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Turkey, the United States, and the United Kingdom.
These nations expressed their support for Somalia’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, and unity, emphasizing the necessity of reducing regional tensions through dialogue, including ongoing Turkish-led initiatives.
Additionally, the discussions highlighted the importance of focusing on economic goals and security integration, particularly addressing the threats posed by terrorist groups in the Horn of Africa.
These countries also demonstrated their support for the efforts of the Federal Government of Somalia to establish highly skilled and capable security forces and defense institutions.
