Mogadishu (SD) – The Somali government has confirmed 35 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours. All 35 cases are in Mogadishu.
The Minister of Health and Social Welfare of the federal government of Somalia, Fosiya Abikar Nur, said in her daily report on COVID-19 that the total number of people being registered in the country increased to 60 cases.
52 of the patients are in very good health and are in isolation at their homes, three are being treated at De-Martini Hospital, while the other is in a medical facility in Halane.
The minister urged the public to shelter in place during the pandemic, and to practise social distancing if there is a need for them to be outside.
The spike has since contributed to public concern about the spread of the virus in the country, these new cases are attributed to community spread.
