BELEDWEYNE (SD) – A Somali national army commandos performed a military operation in Fidow, Dudubley, Kiliga Shinaha, and Burao-Dheere areas of Hiiraan region.

Police officials leading the raid confirmed that they had killed more than 60 members of Al-Shabaab militants and scorched some of their bases.

The commander of Al-Shabaab in Hiiraan region was reportedly killed in the operation as confirmed by generals leading the operation.

“We have also destroyed bomb-making facilities and extortion sites by the Al-Shabaab terrorists,” said General Hasan Mohamed Osman. Adding that the operations would continue until Al-Shabaab is eradicated from the country.
