KISMAYO (SD)- Reports from Kismayo town under Jubaland administration, confirm that Sheikh Abdinasir Haji Ahmed died in a car explosion today.

A released press statement state that the explosion that killed a prominent Somali cleric, took place at Somalia Star intersection in Kismayo. The bomb was deliberately attached to the bottom of the car that was driven by Sheikh Abdinasir Ahmed.

The Jubaland police forces arrived at the scene of the detonation and have confirmed that Sheikh Abdinasir Ahmed was the only causality in the unfortunate explosion that has occurred today.

Sheikh Abdinasir Ahmed was previously living in Las Anod town, in Sool District. Reports confirm that he went on this trip to Kismayo for meetings.

No group has claimed responsibility for the attack that took place in Kismayo today killing a famous Islamic cleric.

The Minister of Information, Culture and Awareness and Spokesperson of the Government, Mr. Saleban Yusuf Ali Koore, has sent a message of condolences to the family, relatives and the clergy in general on the death of Sheikh Abdinasir Haji Ahmed, one of Somaliland’s leading clerics.

A number of religious scholars in Hargeisa also condemned the killing of the sheikh and prayed to God to give him his mercy on the deceased.
