MOGADISHU (SD)- A powerful explosion recently struck a restaurant in the Jamhuriya neighborhood, part of the Karan district in Mogadishu’s Banadir region, resulting in significant casualties.

The explosion, caused by a planted landmine device, targeted an area within the restaurant, which was populated with civilians at the time.

According to eyewitnesses, the blast killed at least five people, with a greater number wounded who were rushed to nearby hospitals in Mogadishu for treatment.

The incident highlights the deteriorating security situation in Mogadishu, as recent hours have seen an increase in civilian killings across parts of the city.

Many victims were reportedly targeted for installing CCTV cameras, indicating a concerning trend in security challenges facing the city.
